Love this little North Side gem. Food was amazing, thoughtful dishes, and service is excellent. Thank you for the birthday toast, it made my mom’s evening.

The lamb agnolotti is the best pasta dish I have ever had! Leftovers just as good the next day. We also had the arancini appetizer and it was delicious. You will not have better Italian in the Burgh.

Wonderful restaurant and great event that we happened to come across. Would recommend checking out city of asylum events and dining at the restaurant when there is one.

Meet our esteemed Executive Chef, Jonathan Pruett. Jonathan describes his culinary beginnings as “humble,” having started his journey in the dish pit of an Italian restaurant in Tampa Bay, Florida. Observing the chefs work their magic during each service, Jonathan gradually became inspired to pursue a career in the culinary arts.

Through dedication and perseverance, Jonathan transitioned from the dish pit to a promising career in the kitchen.

Jonathan’s first leadership role came at Acorn, a modern Americana fine-dining restaurant in Pittsburgh’s historic Shadyside neighborhood. Initially hired as a line cook, Jonathan quickly rose through the ranks to become Acorn’s Sous Chef, where he was able to infuse his culinary creativity into menu development and execution.

Chef Jonathan has been an integral part of the opening team at Cucina Alfabeto, bringing his culinary expertise and flair to our seasonal menu while upholding the highest standards of execution in our kitchen

Meet our Sous Chef and resident Science Officer, Skyler Adamski.
Skyler’s journey to the kitchen began in the halls of Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied architecture—a field that seamlessly blends math, science, and art. However, life took an unexpected turn when a medical diagnosis placed his academic pursuits on hold. By a twist of fate, his wife Alicia—then managing a restaurant—helped him land a position as a dishwasher. It wasn’t long before Skyler found himself on the line, cooking, and discovering that the culinary arts offered the same intricate harmony of creativity and precision that first drew him to architecture. He hasn’t looked back since.
Today, Skyler brings his scientifically charged mind to Cucina Alfabeto, applying the principles of the scientific method to our menu development. Whether he’s experimenting with flavor profiles or refining techniques, his approach is thoughtful, methodical, and innovative. It’s not uncommon to hear a podcast on string theory or quantum physics playing in the background as Skyler perfects his craft—always learning, always exploring.
